From Truck to Table
Bear City Social grew out of years of feeding the Central Coast — catering gigs, the food truck, and menus that read like a road trip. Today the home base is Main St in Morro Bay: griddle breakfasts in the morning, street tacos and smashburgers all afternoon, and a paella with a following of its own.
Meet Chef Shaun Behrens
Owner and executive chef Shaun Behrens built his craft in two beloved Central Coast kitchens — Luna Red on Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo and the Blue Heron. Those years shaped how Bear City Social cooks today: seasonal ingredients, global street flavors, and plates meant for sharing. The paella tradition came home with him too — and it's been drawing a crowd ever since.
Mornings mean griddled breakfast burritos and pancake tacos. Afternoons bring smashburgers, tahini chicken wraps, and hand cut fries. And on paella days the big pan comes out — seasonal, saffron-scented, and worth planning a trip around.
